Demo Update (August 2024)
Hi everyone! A brand new update for the demo is now live.
And it's a pretty hefty update. Let's waste no time and get right into the details.
1. Morale System
I've developed a morale system for the game. It works simply: if a unit is outside the military base supply area, its morale will drop. If it gets below a certain level (around 30%) and the unit sees an enemy, one of two things will happen. Either the unit will flee in a random direction, or it will... rebel against you and turn hostile! Yes, you can expect rebels attacking your units moving across the map. Additionally, rebels retain the experience level they had before rebelling.
Oh, but speaking about experience...
2. Experience and Levelling Up
Your units will accumulate experience points when fighting the monsters. Each time they level up, their damage output will increase. I've talked about this in a previous blog post, but I thought it would be helpful to mention it again. It's a simple and basic system, but hopefully, it will make your units feel less expendable.
3. Map Creation Screen
One popular complaint I see often is the lack of map creation options. While I was planning on adding them only in the full release of the game, I've decided to adapt and give you an early version of that screen. As I said, it's very early and quite janky, but you can use it to generate maps as big (or as small) as you desire.
4. Steam store page for demo
Steam has changed its policy regarding demo versions, and now you can have a seperate store page for the demo version. As you read these words, such page should be live for my game. If you like to play it on Gabe's heaven - hey, go for it!
These were the most important features of this update - full changelog below:
v0.5.1

- Changed the power production in power plants and power consumption in cities

Thanks again for every piece of feedback, advice, or criticism I've received. A quick reminder: you can wishlist the game on Steam, join the Discord server, or fill out the feedback survey.
More updates are on the way. The development process is drawing to an end soon, so you'll be able to enjoy the full release in the near future.
Stay tuned!
